One for the thumb! Anthony Price captures fifth title.

Anthony Price left nothing to chance in his game against Eric Robinson for the “SHOW” title game played today at Over Town Brewery in Monrovia. His fifth ring is the most in league history as his Steelers never looked back after receiving the opening kickoff. During the post game news conference, coach Price said the Oilers and coach Robinson’s first mistake was, “he gave me the ball first”. That was a mistake as the Steelers held the ball the entire quarter as they drove the ball down field. Three plays into the second quarter they scored and never looked back. The Oilers did mount a good response as they drove down field and kicked a field goal of 52 yds to cut the lead to 7-3. But that was as close as they would get. On their next drive, Bradshaw hit Price for a big gain that brought them to the Oilers door step and another score. The Oilers defense rose up and on fourth down with the passing clock running down Bradshaw hit his second TD pass of the half and the lead grew to 14-3. Eric Robinson and his Oilers got the ball to their own 45 yard line when time ran out on them in the first half.

“Even though we’re trailing 14-3, I don’t feel like we’re out of this game”, coach Robinson was heard saying coming back from the locker room. Where the first half of the game was scoring and making adjustments on the fly, the second half was what these two long time friends are known for. Defense! First half no punts, second half Oilers two three and outs and two punts, Steelers picked up one first down but still punted twice, with the Steelers still holding on to their 14-3 lead after three quarters of play.

In this game if you’re down by two scores the game is pretty much over unless you can pull a rabbit out of a hat that rarely happens and today it didn’t happen either. With the game winding down the Oilers found themselves trying tactics to save time while still trying to score. Their once solid running game wasn’t there all day. They managed as a team (-8) yds rushing. Passing was a problem too. They managed only 107 yds through the air going 7 of 17 with 1 interception which came late in the game when it was all but over. The final score came on a busted coverage as Bradshaw the games MVP tossed his third touchdown of the game to seal the win. Bradshaw finished with 153 yds 3 tds no picks. He went 9 for 21 on the day. Most of his completion came in the first half. The Steelers ran as a team for 34yds again most coming in the first half. The Steel Curtain defense came away with four sacks for (-14) yds and the one pick. Neither team converted well on third downs, the Oilers were 1 of 7 and the Steelers were 1 of 5. Houston was also 0 for 1 on fourth down. Pittsburgh converted both of their fourth down attempts which resulted in a touchdown in the first half.

20-3 was the final and with that wraps up another season in the Los Angeles Electric Football League. Season 24 is over and the silver season will begin in February 2025!! Will we see another finals between friends or will there be a new contender or perhaps two new contenders? If season 25 is anything like past seasons we’re in for a hell of a ride. As it was once said,”electric football is one play from glory, and one play from gloom and doom”. Reporting for the LAEFL, I’m Rasta Haze and this is the world of the LAEFL according to me.
